L'écrivain Papa Niang interpelle PASTEF : « Où sont les réformes promises?»
Nearly two years after PASTEF came to power, writer Papa Niang offers a mixed assessment. While he welcomes the drop in prices of some basic necessities, which he describes as "appreciable progress," he believes that the essential work has not yet been done.
According to him, the March 2024 change of power was supposed to mark a systemic break with the practices of the APR. "What have we seen so far? Nothing!" he exclaimed, lamenting that expectations of justice and accountability had gone unfulfilled. Many, he recalled, had hoped that figures like Mansour Faye, Aliou Sall, and Amadou Ba would be held accountable for their actions before the courts.
Papa Niang points to the "excessive" powers of the head of state and the "exorbitant" emoluments of senior officials, amounts which he considers shocking, "even for employees of the American federal government," he says.
For Papa Niang, the real reform project lies in limiting presidential prerogatives and ensuring transparency in the management of public assets.
He is calling on members of parliament to pass laws regulating the use of state resources and to investigate "the ten largest payments to senior civil servants" in the Ministries of Finance, Planning, and Taxes and State Property. "I am convinced that the results will surprise us," he says.
In conclusion, Papa Niang urged PASTEF to keep its promises. "Let's change this country as we promised the Senegalese people in March 2024."

Diomaye a trahi, s'est éloigné du projet. Malheureusement pour ce parti, vu les pouvoirs exorbitants du président , si ce dernier décide de se renier, il n' y a aucun moyen de lui forcer la main. Toutefois, à l'assemblée, les députés PASTEF disposent d'une majorité renforcée. Ils peuvent donc palier les carences du PR et voter les réformes qui entrent dans le champ de leurs compétences. Mais force est de reconnaître que pour l'instant, ces députés font preuve d'une léthargie étonnante.
