The MP denounced the "inexplicable, unacceptable, and intolerable" delays in handling the Ziguinchor Chamber of Commerce case. He called on the minister to address suspicions of embezzlement, conflicts of interest, and internal reprisals.

Guy Marius Sagna doesn't mince his words. In a written interpellation addressed to the Minister of Industry and Commerce, he denounces the excessive slowness in handling the case of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Ziguinchor. Thirteen months after the initial reports, and ten months after his own official referral, the MP is still waiting for the results of the verification mission promised by the ministry.

The case is weighty: more than 150 million CFA francs were paid to the Kandiandoumagne Hotel between 2014 and 2024, while the hotel manager was also president of the Chamber of Commerce. During this time, employees lived in precarious conditions, and the institution accumulated social debts of 30 million CFA francs. Funds also allegedly disappeared during the 2024 cashew harvest at the port of Ziguinchor, then managed by the Chamber.

Faced with these facts, Guy Marius Sagna poses a direct question: "Is the president of the Ziguinchor Chamber of Commerce being protected to the detriment of the people, workers, and interests of Senegal?"

Retaliation and silence

The MP also mentions internal reprisals: the Secretary General of the Chamber was relieved of his duties by the implicated president. Despite partial intervention by the ministry to restore his rights, his salary remains incomplete. “This situation has gone on for too long,” insists Guy Marius Sagna.

The MP called on the minister to show political courage. He asked him to publish the results of the verification mission, take the necessary measures, and clean up his department. He also demanded that the officials who delayed the transmission of the referral be identified.

“Oh, enemy slowness!” he repeats like a cry from the heart. “Your department needs a clean sweep.”
