Mort de l’étudiant Abdoulaye Ba : Barthélemy Dias promet justice et dénonce les violences policières
The leader of the Sénégal Bi Niou Bokk movement, Barthélemy Dias, spoke about the death of student Abdoulaye Ba, which occurred in tragic circumstances at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar.
At a press conference this Wednesday, February 25, he promised that justice will be served in this case, denouncing police violence on the university campus.
"I promise the victim's family, the Senegalese people, and especially the students, that justice will be served. Justice is not negotiable," he stated.
The former mayor of Dakar also reiterated the police's role in maintaining order at the university. "What we saw at the university will be punished and sanctioned. It is unacceptable that the police, whose job it is to maintain order, are engaging in actions that are not related to maintaining order. What we saw at the university was disorder," he lamented.
He added: "We all saw police officers entering in broad daylight with heavy equipment, accompanied by a special police unit, namely the Multipurpose Intervention Brigade. We saw them break into houses, we saw them enter houses, we saw them break into bedrooms, and we know what happened next. These acts will be punished."
Barthélemy Dias also denounced the fires, burglaries, and cyberattacks that have targeted strategic institutions in the country. According to him, these acts are suspicious and part of a manipulation strategy.
The leader finally demanded non-negotiable transparency on the common heritage of the Senegalese people.
