146e Appel de Seydina Limamou Laye : Seydina Issa Thiaw Laye relève une crise spirituelle et politique au Sénégal
During a visit to Cambérène this Friday, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and National Assembly President El Malick Ndiaye participated in discussions marked by a call to preserve the spiritual and political balance of Senegal. The general coordinator of the Seydina Limamou Laye Appeal, Seydina Issa Thiaw Laye, painted a worrying picture of the national situation, describing it as a dual crisis. "Senegal is going through a spiritual crisis and a political crisis," he stated. He reiterated that the country's stability rests on the balances enshrined in the Constitution.
In a regional context marked by insecurity, he emphasized the central role of religious centers in safeguarding peace. According to him, the spiritual crisis manifests itself in the instrumentalization of religion by actors who misunderstand its foundations. "Everyone uses it as they see fit, to serve their own interests," he lamented.
On the political front, Seydina Issa Laye, son of the late Khalif General of the Layene brotherhood, Serigne Abdoulaye Thiaw Laye, questioned the viability of a system with over 400 political parties, seeing it as a source of division. To solidify national unity, he advocates for greater consideration to be given to religious authorities.
His remarks were supported by the Speaker of the National Assembly. El Malick Ndiaye recalled that "the Senegalese exception" also stems from the quiet work of religious leaders who ensure the country's stability. "We are in Layène to gather prayers so that peace may remain in Senegal and that God may spare us from division," he declared. He called on the Layène community to pray for the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and all institutions.
