Arafat : Des milliers de pèlerins dans la ferveur et le recueillement
Under a significant security and health apparatus deployed by Saudi authorities, thousands of pilgrims traveled today to the Arafat station, the central stop on the Hajj pilgrimage, in an atmosphere of fervor and contemplation, marked by spirituality, prayers, and supplications. Throughout the journey, the faithful repeatedly recited the Talbiyah and offered supplications, asking for forgiveness and mercy.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the pilgrimages took place under a significant security presence deployed to manage the flow of pilgrims and guide them along the various road and pedestrian routes. Saudi authorities also mobilized medical, rescue, and assistance services to meet the needs of the faithful who came to fulfill the fifth pillar of Islam.
In accordance with prophetic tradition, pilgrims perform the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, which are combined and shortened, at the Namira Mosque. After sunset, they proceed to Muzdalifah to spend the night before continuing the Hajj rites. Considered the most important moment of the pilgrimage, Arafat holds a central place in Islam.
The famous hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) states that "the Hajj is Arafat." This symbolic place is also where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered his Farewell Sermon. Located approximately 18 kilometers from the Grand Mosque (Al-Haram), the plain of Arafat is surrounded by mountains and welcomes millions of pilgrims from around the world each year. On this day, all the faithful gather in the same attire and in the same spirit of devotion.
Saudi authorities have enhanced the site's infrastructure to improve conditions for pilgrims. Shaded areas, misting systems, air-conditioned spaces, and electronic crowd management systems have been installed. Jabal Al-Rahma Hospital, along with several health centers and emergency posts, remain operational to ensure prompt treatment of any medical needs. Simultaneous translation services in multiple languages and smart applications are also available to pilgrims to facilitate their wayfinding and travel arrangements.
Mount Al-Rahma, located in the heart of Arafat, remains one of the most iconic sites of the Hajj. As for the Namira Mosque, it welcomes hundreds of thousands of pilgrims each year for the prayers of the Day of Arafat. Through this spiritual gathering, Arafat symbolizes the unity of the Muslim community and one of the most significant moments of the pilgrimage to Mecca.
