Crise des valeurs : Le plaidoyer du mouvement Ashaboul Yamine pour un Sénégal meilleur

Senegalese society is facing a profound crisis of values. To address this, the Ashaboul Yamine movement held a forum in Thiès on Sunday, November 16th, on the theme "The Place of Muslim Women in Society." The panelists discussed the appropriate behaviors and attitudes that a woman should possess.

Fatou Kiné Diop, a psychologist with a degree in sociology, believes that when we talk about society, we automatically think of women. For her, women occupy a central place in society, and to live in a society based on our sociocultural values, we must first educate women, who constitute the first pillar.

"Our society is going through a crisis. To eradicate it, we need a thorough analysis. Our society was once well-structured, but unfortunately, it has been disrupted by external influences. With their agendas, NGOs have reorganized our society. These NGOs fight against early marriage and facilitate access to condoms. So, they fight against early marriage without taking early sexual activity into account. They even encourage young girls to go to family planning clinics so they can have sex outside of marriage without the risk of getting pregnant. This is pushing girls towards early sexual activity," laments Fatou Kiné Diop.

According to the sociologist, Islam's real struggle is against early sexual activity, not early marriage. She believes that sexuality has become commonplace in our society. "Previously, sexuality was a taboo subject between parents and children. Today, we often see stories of rape between girls and their fathers, brothers, or uncles. This is due, on the one hand, to access to the internet and, on the other hand, to a lack of basic education," laments Ms. Diop.

And for the Secretary General of the Ashaboul Yamine movement, Senegal must adopt an Islamic system in order to develop and avoid certain harmful practices. "Everything we need to develop a country is found in Islam. The new regime understood this, which is why it based its communication on developing a different system than the one that had been in place since independence. The Senegalese people must embrace this policy if they want to live in peace, equality, and respect for the law. We need an Islamic system because no other system can solve the problems of society," according to Mouhamad Idriss Traoré.

Furthermore, Mouhamad Idriss Traoré laments that in Senegal, justice is only applied to the poor. "Those who steal billions remain free while others languish in prison for years for simple theft," he denounces.
