The sub-prefect of Ndam, Abdoulaye Kharma, presided over the meeting of the local development committee dedicated to the preparations for the Magal of Kazu Rajab scheduled for January 2026. This religious event celebrates the birth of Serigne Fallou Mbacké, second general khalifa of the Mourides.

“We have just chaired the meeting of the local development committee dedicated to the preparations for the Magal of Kazu Rajab, which is scheduled for January 2026. It is a traditional meeting that we organize in the presence of the family of Serigne Fallou Mbacké, second general khalifa of the Mourides, the organizing committee and all the heads of department who, each, must ensure that the needs of the organizing committee are taken care of in excellent conditions,” said the sub-prefect at the end of this first meeting.

Discussions began with the health sector, considered a priority given the current health situation. The organizing committee requested the establishment of advanced health posts, a request to which the district's chief medical officer readily agreed.

"Measures must be taken, at this time when there are two major epidemics that are taking hold everywhere, given the expected influx of people and the appropriate measures that everyone must take so that the Magal can take place in excellent conditions, without the spread of this disease," stressed the administrative authority.

Beyond health, all other strategic sectors were also reviewed: security, energy, livestock and the environment.

“On the other points, namely security, energy, livestock and the environment, all the heads of service have, each in their own area, spoken out to make the necessary promises and that all due diligence will be applied to ensure that the Magal takes place in excellent conditions,” reassured the sub-prefect of Ndam.

This first meeting thus marks the official start of preparations for a major religious event which is expected to attract a large influx of Mouride faithful next January.
