The Bishop of the Diocese of Ziguinchor has advocated for the construction of the Bandiale road, the main artery connecting Enampore and the surrounding area. Bishop Jean-Baptiste Valter Manga made this plea during the laying of the foundation stone for the Good Shepherd Parish church in Enampore, in the presence of the Sub-Prefect of the Nyasia district, Moussa Aly Ba.

“The church, wherever it is located, also works for the development of the local population. This is what we have always advocated, which is why, in my letter to the sub-prefect, I also emphasized the state of the road. The two go hand in hand. We will have a beautiful church here, but access must be made easier, since this road to Bandiale is one of the most difficult in our region. We hope that the authorities will truly work to provide these communities with a better environment for travel so that people can come and go as they would elsewhere,” urged the pastor of the church located in Ziguinchor.

The laying of the foundation stone for the church in Enampore was attended by both traditional and Muslim communities. This display of fraternity and solidarity was praised by the Bishop of Ziguinchor, a sign of the harmonious coexistence between the three religions.

"We are here in one of the areas where the three religions coexist. We have a large mass of the population who are of the traditional religion. We have Muslims and we have Christians. And it is all of us that we must form a community, each practicing their religion with respect for the other," said the bishop of the diocese of Ziguinchor.

Bishop Jean-Baptiste Valter adds that "this ceremony was a sign of the peaceful coexistence that our country is rich in and that we have the responsibility to maintain so that our faithful can truly live in communities where life is good."

"The region as we know it, we need this peace. And here, the Bandiale has also suffered greatly from this conflict. So I would like the church to also have this face of peace and pacification of our space," he urged in an intervention on the RFZ channel, Religion, Faith in Ziguinchor.
