Sécurisation des frontières : la bataille secrète pour un contrat stratégique
In its Thursday edition, Libération reports that an intense battle is taking place behind the scenes for the multi-billion dollar National Project for Border Security and Management and Biometric Identification, as the contract with the American company Securiport expires on January 11, 2026.
Three companies are in the running, according to the newspaper: Securiport, which is seeking an extension - an option that the new authorities seem reluctant to grant - as well as Huawei and ISC.
The same source recalls that the initial Securiport contract, signed in 2011 and then renewed under Macky Sall, was the subject of an investigation by the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF), which revealed serious facts, including enormous amounts linked to tax and customs fraud.
Despite this, the daily newspaper points out, a memorandum of understanding between Securiport and the Ministry of Finance, signed under the previous regime, has never been made public. Libération recommends that the new authorities, who have opted for transparency, take full note of the IGF investigation before deciding on the next steps in the process.
