Cyberattaque : DGID, DAF, Trésor, ce que l’État doit faire en priorité
Following the General Directorate of Taxes and State Property (DGID) and the Directorate of File Automation (DAF), the Treasury has now suffered a cyberattack. Payment and collection services are gradually resuming, according to a statement from the General Directorate of Public Accounting and the Treasury (DGCPT), but this latest incident raises questions about the reliability of the country's national data protection system.
For cybersecurity expert Babacar Charles Ndoye, interviewed by Le Soleil, these successive attacks against strategic institutions, in such a short period of time, constitute "a test of the resilience of the State, of its capacity to protect its strategic data and of its ability to defend its critical infrastructures against organized actors, structured and possibly supported by interests going beyond the simple criminal framework".
Continuing, Ndoye points out that "in modern cybersecurity and defense doctrines, certain infrastructures are considered critical assets of sovereignty." "When they are compromised repeatedly, in a coordinated manner, or in close succession, the issue is no longer technical; it becomes strategic, institutional, and national," the expert emphasizes.
To deal with these attacks, Babacar Charles Ndoye recommends an independent technical audit, identifying organizational and decision-making responsibilities, "but also thoroughly reviewing the governance of the security of the State's information systems," Le Soleil reports.
"The other priority actions, according to him, consist of identifying human, contractual, technical and strategic failures, and of definitively considering cybersecurity as a matter of national sovereignty and no longer as a simple IT issue," adds the national daily.
