Lutte contre l'insécurité à Dakar : 613 interpellations sous la supervision du ministre Bamba Cissé

On the night of Saturday, November 22nd to Sunday, November 23rd, 2025, law enforcement conducted a large-scale operation in Dakar. From 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM, the gendarmerie and national police forces deployed an impressive force in several locations between Diamniadio and Dakar. This extensive coordinated security operation took place in the presence of the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Bamba Cissé; Brigadier General Assane Bèye, Commander of the Territorial Gendarmerie; Colonel Malick Faye, Commander of the Dakar Gendarmerie Legion; Divisional Commissioner Ndiarra Sène, Director of Public Security; and Divisional Commissioner Mamadou Tendeng, Head of the Dakar Central Police Station.

Conducted in perfect coordination between the two institutions, these joint operations mobilized significant personnel and equipment. According to Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye, the gendarmerie deployed 1,149 personnel, including squadrons from the Gendarmerie Intervention Legion (LGI), the Dakar Mobile Group, canine units, drone units, and judicial teams.

For its part, the national police have deployed 391 men from the Mobile Intervention Group (GMI), the research brigade, the Dakar urban corps and the Rapid Intervention and Assistance Service (SIRA).

The operations yielded significant results. A total of 613 people were apprehended, including 511 for identity checks and 102 for various offenses, according to Seneweb sources. Regarding traffic, 53 vehicles were stopped, 23 of which were impounded. In addition, 183 motorcycles were impounded and 53 driver's licenses were revoked. The total amount of fines collected was 616,000 CFA francs.

The operation also dealt a severe blow to drug trafficking in the capital. Law enforcement seized 3.5 kg of cannabis, eight packets of hashish, five joints, and 69 ecstasy tablets.

Through these actions, the gendarmerie and the police reaffirm their determination to continue joint operations in order to guarantee, in a sustainable manner, the safety of the population and the protection of their property.
