Cancers du col de l’utérus et du sein : 5 cas détectés à Thiès lors d’une séance de dépistage
Of 260 women examined in Thiès during a screening and awareness campaign on cervical and breast cancer, five positive cases were identified, while 55 young girls received the vaccine against the human papillomavirus (HPV), the main agent responsible for these cancers.
Two of the women screened are between 25 and 49 years old, the other three are at least 50 years old. This is an opportunity for Bineta Diallo, a member of the "Badjénou Gokh" network, to urge parents to vaccinate their daughters aged 9 to 14, in order to strengthen prevention and avoid vaccine hesitancy.
The campaign, organized at the Sampathé health center, was initiated by the Regroupement des enfants de la garde républicaine (REGAR), in partnership with the Association of Midwives of the Thiès region, as part of Pink October, an international campaign dedicated to the fight against breast and cervical cancer.
