Danger mortel de l'exercice illégal de la médecine : Le combat de l’ordre contre les faux médecins

The National Order of Physicians of Senegal took advantage of the publication of its official 2025 register, which lists 5,675 practitioners, to sound the alarm against the illegal practice of medicine. A practice described as a "mortal danger" for the population.

"It must be said that this is fraud that costs lives," said the president of the National Order of Physicians, Dr. Jean-François Diène.

According to him, unregistered individuals continue to pose as doctors by making diagnoses, prescribing treatments, or performing medical procedures. "These false practitioners exploit the distress and vulnerability of patients. Their actions lead to delayed diagnoses, therapeutic errors, worsening of pathologies, and too often preventable deaths," the president of the order stressed.

Faced with this scourge, the institution is taking a tough line: it is working closely with health and judicial authorities to track down and prosecute those responsible. It is also advocating for tougher penalties. It is making a clear appeal to the public: "Before consulting a doctor, ask to know if your doctor is registered on the official register. This reflex could save your life."

Beyond this struggle, the order has addressed the structural challenges facing the profession: overburdened public services, a glaring lack of resources, medical desertification, professional burnout, and an exodus of talent. It is calling for a general meeting on health, in order to build an ambitious pact with the authorities: improving working conditions, a recruitment and hospital equipment plan, and incentives for doctors to set up in all regions.

For the Order, the publication of the annual table is not limited to an administrative directory: it embodies a contract of trust between doctors and citizens, based on ethics, competence, and responsibility. "Increasing public investment in health is a winning bet on the future of our nation. Saving our medicine means saving lives," the organization concluded.

Même ceux qui se disent "vrais médecins" ne sont pas sûrs. Moi, j'ai plutôt confiance aux plantes. Je ne crois pas aux médicaments, mais aux remèdes.
