Dr Samba Cor Sarr : « les travailleurs sociaux n’ont pas encore joué leur partition dans… »

At the opening of the Social Work Conference held on Thursday, November 27, 2025, the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene, Dr. Samba Cor Sarr, emphasized the crucial importance of social workers in the economic and social transformation of Africa.

According to him, despite the extraordinary potential and African ingenuity, this sector has not yet fully contributed to the development of the continent.

"We develop policies, we have abundant resources and committed leaders, but the main problem is that social work has not yet played its true part," he stated.

Dr. Sarr stressed the central role of social professionals in promoting equity and systemic transformation, calling for collective mobilization to realize this potential.

The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene, in partnership with international organizations such as UNICEF, is committed to supporting the profession so that it can play a decisive role in the continent's development. These initiatives include establishing a professional framework and a regulatory body to ensure the safety of the profession.

The congress thus constitutes a platform to share knowledge and experiences, and to transform these achievements into concrete actions for the well-being of African populations.
