Ebola en RDC : l'épidémie franchit le seuil des 280 cas confirmés
The Ebola epidemic continues to spread in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Health authorities announced on Sunday that 282 confirmed cases had been recorded across the country.
The province of Ituri, in eastern DRC, remains the epicenter of the outbreak with 264 recorded cases. More than 1,000 suspected cases linked to the Bundibugyo virus, the strain currently circulating, have also been reported.
According to the Congolese Ministry of Health, the epidemic has spread to 22 health zones across three provinces in the east of the country. Authorities emphasize that early case detection, contact tracing, and strengthening preventive measures remain the main challenges in containing the disease.
In response to this situation, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations announced funding of up to $62 million to accelerate the development of three experimental vaccines against the Bundibugyo virus.
