Hôpital Ahmadou Sakhir Ndiéguène : Des malades mal orientés, des soins retardés, des vies en danger
The technical facilities at the Ahmadou Sakhir Ndiéguène Regional Hospital are currently in a state of collapse: repeated breakdowns of the scanner, mammography machine, and endoscopy unit; dental chairs out of service; a lack of beds and basic equipment; and deteriorating reception conditions. The result: patients misdirected, delayed treatment, and lives endangered.
The heartfelt plea comes from Habib Vitin, president of the "Thiès First" movement and member of the "Diomaye President" Leaders' Conference. Even worse, the political figure notes that "the road leading to the hospital is in such a state that it endangers the lives of patients even before they arrive."
He continued, expressing his regret: "This hospital bears a name heavy with meaning and history for Thiès. It bears the name of Ahmadou Sakhir Ndiéguène, a name laden with history, faith, dignity, and service to the city of Thiès and beyond. To allow the hospital to deteriorate is to betray a memory and abandon the people."
Meanwhile, laments the leader of "Thiès First", millions are being spent on decoration, light shows and campaign-oriented communication billboards, while some of the city's resources could be used to save lives: helping to equip the hospital, supporting healthcare workers, and rehabilitating the road to the hospital.
He reminds us that since health is a shared responsibility between the state and local authorities, human life requires solidarity from everyone, including local communities and therefore the city hall. Mr. Habib Vitin believes that "a city's true priority is not appearances, but life itself."
For him, "the most beautiful political message a mayor can send to the people is not a poster, it is not a bright slogan, it is a safe road, lives saved and citizens protected." "That," he said, "is the most beautiful communication tool."
