Hôpital de Kédougou : Faute d'eau depuis 2 mois, le SAMES décide de réduire les soins à partir de ce jeudi
In a letter addressed to the director of the Amath Dansokho Regional Hospital Center in Kédougou, SAMES (Autonomous Union of Doctors, Pharmacists and Dental Surgeons of Senegal/Section Amath Dansokho Regional Hospital Center of Kédougou) noted that for more than two months, the hospital has been facing a lack of water and this situation is only getting worse.
Indeed, "initially, the power outage occurred between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Now we have observed that from 1 p.m. onwards, there is no power in the facility for a week, negatively affecting the quality of patient care and exposing staff."
The union also notes the lack of official communication from the administration regarding this situation, as well as the lack of proposed solutions to get out of this crisis.
SAMES/CHRADK warns that, starting Thursday, January 8, 2026, if a permanent solution guaranteeing a 24/7 water supply is not found, healthcare services will be reduced. Consultations, scheduled appointments, and obstetric care will no longer be provided at the facility. Only emergencies will be treated while water is available.
