Kédougou : le CHR Amath Dansokho menacé par une réduction des soins faute d’eau
In Kédougou, a worrying situation is emerging at the Amath Dansokho Regional Hospital Center. The Autonomous Union of Doctors, Pharmacists and Dentists of Senegal, CHRADK section, has announced an upcoming reduction in healthcare activities due to serious water supply problems.
In a statement addressed to the hospital management, SAMES indicates that from this Thursday, January 8, 2026, and in the absence of a definitive solution guaranteeing access to drinking water 24 hours a day, several medical services will no longer be able to be provided normally.
Therefore, consultations, scheduled care programs, and obstetric care will be suspended at the facility. Only emergencies will be treated, and only during periods when water is actually available.
The union points out that this decision, although difficult, aims to preserve both patient safety and the protection of healthcare staff, in a context where water remains essential for any quality medical care.
Aware of the importance placed by management on optimal patient care, SAMES calls on the director of the hospital to find, as soon as possible, a lasting solution to this problem which directly affects the quality of care offered to the population of the region.
The statement was sent to administrative and health authorities, including the governor of the Kédougou region, the regional health director, and the relevant union officials.
This situation is already causing concern among local populations, in a region where access to healthcare remains vital.
