Malem Hodar : Trois jours consacrés à la prévention des cancers féminins

The Malem Hodar health district will host events dedicated to the prevention of cervical and breast cancer from November 3rd to 5th, 2025. This initiative aims to raise awareness and increase screening for these diseases, which continue to affect a large number of women, particularly in rural areas.

Organised in collaboration with the Community Development Emergency Programme (PUDC), the Senegalese Society of Colposcopy and Pathology Related to Papillomavirus (2SC2P) and the Institute of the Cervical Tract of Dakar (ICOLDAK), these days are part of a framework for promoting community health in the regions of Kaffrine and Tambacounda.

The first phase, launched this Monday, November 3rd, at the Malem Hodar Health Center, is dedicated to training 35 midwives. These women are receiving capacity building in the prevention, screening, and early management of gynecological cancers. Following the session, they will be expected to implement this new knowledge in their respective healthcare facilities.

Screening operations will begin on November 4th. They will take place at the Malem Hodar health center and in several health posts in the commune and its surroundings, notably in Sagna, Médina Dianké, Maka Belel, Paffa and Niahéne.

These prevention days are part of the ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health to improve the fight against women's cancers. They also emphasize the importance of early detection and public awareness, essential levers for reducing mortality related to these diseases.
