OCTOBRE ROSE : La gendarmerie nationale participe à la lutte contre le cancer

It was in the Samba Diéry Diallo district that the national gendarmerie held, this Wednesday, October 15, the official ceremony to launch its Pink Week, a campaign dedicated to raising awareness and screening for breast and cervical cancers and which saw the participation of female staff of the Institution and that of other defense and security forces.

Placed under the high patronage of the High Commander of the National Gendarmerie and Director of Military Justice and the patron of this edition, Professor Éva Marie Coll Seck, this initiative led by the Gender Division, the National Gendarmerie Health Service and the Social Action Division, reflects the Gendarmerie's commitment to placing the health and well-being of its personnel at the heart of its priorities.

In her speech at the awareness conference, Dr. Yaye Coumba Diouf, obstetrician-gynecologist, emphasized an essential truth: "We must prevent breast and cervical cancers through early screening, because this could save lives."

Thus, the Gendarmerie's Pink Week will be marked by awareness sessions and screening for gynecological cancers, as in previous editions. This year, screening for diabetes, hypertension, and anemia is also planned.

The activities of this campaign began on Monday, October 13 at the Health Service of the National Gendarmerie of Colobane and will continue until October 17, 2025 with a clear objective: to carry out free screening for at least 500 women.
