RÉSULTATS D'OCTOBRE ROSE À KIDIRA : 467 personnes, dont 397 femmes dépistées et 20 activités de prévention réalisées

In total, around twenty activities, including 10 caravans and 10 talks, were carried out, reaching 467 people, including 397 women and 77 men, during the Pink October campaign.

For breast cancer screening, 437 women benefited from breast cancer detection, including one suspected case noted and then referred and four cases followed for treatment.

For cervical cancer, 447 women were screened and three had abnormalities and were then referred for treatment.

For vaccination against cervical cancer, 1,130 girls aged 9 to 14 years were vaccinated with HPV1 and 483 girls received the second dose.

For the family planning service, 59 women benefited from MDA and 93 benefited from medical consultations during the 2025 edition of the Pink October campaign, revealed the chief medical officer of the health district on Saturday at the closing ceremony of the activities.

"The campaign's main objective was to raise awareness among the population through awareness-raising activities, but also to support early detection of breast and cervical cancer at all service points in the district. The mobilization and dedication of health providers and community actors made it possible to obtain significant results during this campaign," he said in the presence of several administrative, local and religious authorities.

“Pink October, much more than a campaign, is a rallying point, a call to action, a glimmer of hope for all those affected by cancer in general and by breast and cervical cancer in particular,” stressed Dr. Saliou Gningue.

According to him, this means "an opportunity to promote early detection, care and support for patients with breast or cervical cancer, as well as for families affected by these diseases which constitute real public health problems."

According to Dr. Gningue, "the State of Senegal, which has made the fight against cancer a priority, has made great efforts to prevent and reduce the burden of cancer on the general population, with a particular emphasis on the care of women."
