The Union of Private Doctors of Senegal (SYMEPS) has decided to award the special Gold Caduceus to the Principal Hospital of Dakar, in recognition of its major role in the development of the Senegalese health system.

This distinction, awarded following a vote by the members of SYMEPS, recognizes the pioneering and consistent contribution of Dakar's Principal Hospital in providing quality care as well as its ongoing commitment to medical innovation.

The hospital institution is particularly recognized for its unprecedented performance in new areas of medical practice, thus reinforcing its position as a national benchmark.

In an official letter addressed to the director of the Principal Hospital of Dakar, General Coumba Diouf Niang, the Executive Bureau of SYMEPS emphasizes the strategic importance of this establishment in the health architecture of the country, both in terms of medical excellence and the modernization of care practices.

The official presentation of the special Golden Caduceus is scheduled for January 24, 2026, during the "Night of the Doctor," a gala evening marking the closing of the 1st Scientific Congress of Private Medicine in Senegal. This event will bring together key players in the healthcare sector to discuss current and future challenges in medical practice.

With this distinction, SYMEPS intends not only to pay tribute to an emblematic institution, but also to promote excellence, innovation and quality of care as essential pillars of the Senegalese health system.
