Une étude révèle un risque génétique de dépression plus élevée chez les femmes
A study published this Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in the journal "Nature Communication" reveals that women have a higher genetic risk of developing depression than men.
Conducted by the Berghofer Institute for Medical Research in Australia, it is one of the largest studies conducted to date on the subject.
Researchers analyzed the DNA of nearly 200,000 people with depression to identify genetic markers associated with the illness. The result: these markers are almost twice as numerous in women as in men—about 13,000 versus 7,000.
By distinguishing between sex-specific genetic factors, scientists hope to better understand the mechanisms of depression and pave the way for more targeted and personalized treatments.
This advance could also explain some clinical differences observed between men and women, such as the more frequent tendency among depressed women to present metabolic symptoms such as variations in weight or energy level.

De par la taille moyenne, une femme ne vit-elle sous une plus forte pression atmospherique que l'homme ?
