112 migrants interpellés à Ouakam : La gendarmerie fait le point
On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at around 8 a.m., the Ouakam Territorial Brigade arrested several candidates for irregular emigration.
Indeed, acting on intelligence reporting a pirogue loaded with illegal migrants off the coast of Ouakam, elements of the said Brigade, supported by the Special Section responsible for Environmental Protection, carried out an operation at sea. This led to the arrest of the passengers of the boat.
The migrants, who had left from the Republic of Gambia, were visibly weak, hungry and exhausted.
They also indicated that the captain of the canoe was taken out by a small boat around 6 a.m.
Thus, in addition to the 19 candidates arrested the day before, the 112 migrants intercepted today bring to 131 the total number of individuals arrested as part of the fight against irregular emigration.
The results of the operation are as follows:
- 112 candidates arrested, including: seventeen (17) Malians, thirty-three (33) Senegalese, sixty-two (62) Gambians;
- the seizure of a canoe;
- eight (08) 20-liter cans of gasoline.
The National Gendarmerie invites the public to strengthen their cooperation in order to stem this phenomenon. It also reminds that its call center remains available free of charge at the toll-free numbers 800 00 20 20 and 123.

8 bidons de 20 l d'essence seulement.. Une grosse arnaque. Visiblement ce capitaine n'avait aucune ntention d'aller jusqu'aux Iles Canaries.
BRAVO, MERCI aux FDS ici à la Gendarmerie. Le problème de l' immigration clanstine continue et persiste parce les personnes sont mal informées et surtout les jeunes. Cette jeunesse subit les pressions familiales car pour beaucoup de parents dont ma soeur, l' europe ou l' amérique c' est le paradis. Dès que leurs enfants y mettent les pieds, ils vont envoyer des mandats, des virements RiA, Western Union, nourrir les nombreux enfants restés au pays et les envoyer faire le pélerinage à la Mecque. Au même moment, Européens, américains...expulsent les migrants et font tout pour leur rendre la vie dure chez eux. Il faut bien informer les populations surtout dans les villages et endroits les plus reculés. L' europe et l' amérique ne sont pas le paradis. Propos d' une victime expulsée.
