5 ans de détention pour vol : Il accuse un policier de l’avoir fait incarcérer pour lui ravir sa copine et le menace de mort
Charged and remanded in custody on February 25, 2020, for conspiracy, armed robbery, and the use of weapons and vehicles, O.D. has languished in prison for five years without trial. Frustrated by his situation, the inmate finally snapped, calling police officer ML K., who had arrested him at the time, to insult him and threaten him with death. He primarily accuses the officer of having him imprisoned in order to marry his girlfriend.
Faced with these threats, the police officer filed a complaint with the public prosecutor for public insults and death threats. The case was assigned to the Rebeuss district police station for investigation. The detainee was brought in and questioned on November 4th before being remanded in custody in connection with this case. According to our information, the judge of the 5th chamber handling his theft case closed the matter the same day, issuing a partial dismissal order, an indictment, and referring the case to the criminal court.
OD was brought before the Dakar Magistrates' Court on November 10, 2025, on charges of insult and death threats. As the plaintiff (the police officer who filed the complaint) did not appear at the hearing, the defendant denied the charges. The judge then adjourned the case until November 17 to allow for the police officer's appearance and a hearing where both sides could present their arguments.
The police officer's account: "He was my informant; I arrested him for theft."
In his complaint, Officer ML K recounted his past relationship with the defendant. He explained that he knew O. D., alias “Cissé,” while working at the Parcelles Assainies police station. According to him, Doucouré helped him track down criminals in the area by acting as an informant. One day in 2020, two shopkeepers who had been assaulted came to the police station with a phone number attributed to the kidnapper. After checking, the officer discovered that it belonged to his informant, O. D. The latter was then arrested along with an accomplice and brought before the prosecutor.
Five years later, while stationed in Kolda and then back in Dakar, the officer said he received several anonymous calls containing insults and threats. According to him, the caller was none other than O. D., who contacted him from Rebeuss prison.
The police officer claims the inmate promised to harm his family upon his release. Fearing for his safety, he filed a lawsuit to prevent the prisoner from carrying out his threats.
The prisoner's version: "He sent me to prison to marry my girlfriend"
Taken from his cell in Rebeuss prison for questioning, O. D., a shopkeeper based in Colobane, offered a different version of events. He maintains that his dispute with the police officer was a matter of the heart. According to him, ML K. had fallen in love with his girlfriend, GS K., whom he met at the Parcelles Assainies police station.
The inmate claims their relationship deteriorated as soon as the police officer began seeing the young woman. One evening, while in a taxi with her, he was stopped by plainclothes officers. Among them was Officer ML K, who, he says, humiliated him in front of his girlfriend before fabricating a theft case against him to clear the way. The inmate asserts that this woman is now the police officer's wife.
Admitting to having insulted the officer over the phone from prison, he justified his actions as a fit of anger. He claims that another inmate told him the officer boasted he could "frame him for rape" to keep him in detention for life.
