The Kaolack central police station has put a stop to the activities of a Nigerian network engaged in the illegal practice of medicine and the trade of dubious pharmaceutical products. Six individuals were arrested this Tuesday as part of this operation, according to exclusive information from Seneweb.

Last Tuesday, around 2 p.m., the Kaolack central police station, headed by Divisional Commissioner Souleymane Ba, received information that a group of Nigerian individuals was engaging in illegal medical practices in the city. These individuals were offering consultations and using blood pressure monitors and various medications to examine and treat patients.

Reacting promptly, elements of the Urban Security Research Brigade immediately deployed to the scene. They arrested HA Raheem, aged 33 and originally from Lagos, Nigeria.

Confessions of an organized network

When confronted by investigators, the suspect admitted the facts and revealed that he was not acting alone. He stated that he was operating in the company of four other individuals who were carrying out the same activities in the area.

According to his statements, their modus operandi consisted of offering medical consultations and dispensing "vitamins" to potential clients for a fee. HA Raheem was taken to the police station for the purposes of the investigation.

A successful search

Investigators then conducted a search of the suspect's home in the Medina Baye neighborhood. This operation led to the location and arrest of his five accomplices: B. Olanrewaju, V. Anyachebelu, W. Olajunon, B. Effiwatt, and K. Tarkariku, all of whom identified themselves as nutritionists, according to Seneweb sources.

The search resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of pharmaceutical products, including boxes of tablets bearing the names "Tre-en-en", "Fibre tablet", "Cal-Mag", among others.

Misleading marketing materials

Investigators also obtained marketing materials written in English, presenting various common health problems such as "THE SILENT KILLER," "HEART DISEASE," "DIABETES," "EYES PROBLEM," and "BREAKING DOWN OF IMMUNITY."

These documents proposed as solutions products from the brand "NEOLIFE", touted for weight loss, strengthening the immune system and women's health.

Pharmaceutical expertise in progress

To determine the exact nature of the seized products and assess their potential danger, the Regional Branch of the Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency has been contacted. Experts will identify the batch of medications, determine their classification, and clarify the impact of these products on the health of the people who consumed them.

Based on the facts gathered during the investigation, the six individuals arrested were taken into custody. They are being prosecuted for illegal practice of medicine, endangering the lives of others, identity theft, and illegal residence.

The public prosecutor at the Saloum High Court was informed of the case and a thorough investigation was opened to determine the extent of their activities and identify possible victims.

This operation demonstrates the vigilance of the Kaolack police in the face of criminal networks that exploit the vulnerability of the population in terms of health.
