Located in the commune of Thiél (Linguère department), the village of Dioulky hosted the eighth edition of the Pencum Djoloff anniversary this Saturday.

This was an opportunity seized by the people to express their numerous grievances.

According to spokesperson Ibrahima Ba, several difficulties continue to hinder the development of this village of approximately 1,000 inhabitants. Among the major grievances are its isolation, the lack of qualified personnel at the health post, particularly a midwife and a nursing assistant, as well as the absence of an ambulance and adequate equipment. Added to this is the lack of funding for women and youth programs.

The head nurse of the Dioulky post, Amadou Sow, reported on the difficult conditions of evacuating patients, who are often forced to travel long distances, including the 75 kilometers separating Dioulky from Linguère.

In the education sector, parents lament the lack of a secondary school in the area, which makes it difficult to monitor students once they are placed elsewhere, sometimes leading to school dropouts. They also advocate for the construction of a perimeter wall to secure the school.

The mayor of Thiel, Samba Awa Ka, called for the electrification of the area and the construction of a modern health post. He also raised the alarm about cattle rustling, which has become a recurring problem in the area.

The prefect of the department, who presided over the ceremony, thanked the president of the Pencum Djoloff association, who, according to him, spared no effort for the success of this eighth edition.
