9 millions en billets noirs saisis : 2 escrocs arrêtés par la gendarmerie de la Foire

What was supposed to be an opportunity to realize his dream of emigrating turned into a nightmare for Mr. Thioye. Seduced by false promises, he fell victim to a scam orchestrated by two individuals posing as travel facilitators. It was a woman he met in a Dakar restaurant who put him in touch with a certain A. Sall, who was supposed to help him obtain a visa quickly. Seduced by this pitch, Mr. Thioye believed Sall's fine promises, who then introduced him to his accomplice, S. Mbaye, alias "Lass."

A well-oiled stratagem

The two scammers first extorted 1,500,000 CFA francs from him in Ouest-Foire, under the pretext of buying a plane ticket. A few days later, during a second meeting in Yoff, they offered him a "lucrative business" aimed at making his money grow in order to facilitate his trip to Dubai. Trapped, Mr. Thioye gave them 3,360,000 CFA francs in exchange for a package that he was only to open once he got home and which was supposed to contain 9,000,000 CFA francs.

The discovery of the deception

But to his surprise, the package actually contained only black bills, counterfeit bills that the criminals assured him they could "wash" using a laboratory and specialized equipment. Worse, the scammers threatened him with reprisals if he reported them.

Distraught, Mr. Thioye decided to go to the premises of the territorial brigade of the Fair to file a complaint, handing over to the investigators the famous bundle of black notes worth nine million CFA francs.

Thanks to his collaboration, A. Sall and S. Mbaye were able to be arrested at the BCEAO recreation center.

During their hearing, they admitted the facts with which they are accused and offered to reimburse their victim, according to Seneweb sources close to the prosecution.

Despite everything, they were brought before the Dakar High Court on Tuesday for fraud and possession of counterfeit banknotes.
