Accusé de viol sur sa nièce 12 ans, il est acquitté après 4 ans de détention
A sigh of relief for R. Diouf. Prosecuted for rape, pedophilia, and abduction of a minor involving his 12-year-old niece, CR Diouf, the man was acquitted due to reasonable doubt by the criminal chamber of the Thiès High Court. The case, which took place in 2022 in Mont-Rolland, was heard on Monday, March 23, 2026.
The boarding school incident that triggered the revelations
According to the indictment, the events came to light after the girl was caught in the garden of her boarding school having sexual relations with a classmate, C. Mbengue. When questioned by the school principal, she initially admitted to a consensual relationship with the boy. However, concerned by her young age, the principal questioned her further about her sexual history. It was then that the minor claimed to have previously been sexually abused by her paternal uncle, R. Diouf.
A subsequent medical certificate confirmed an old hymenal tear. The uncle was then arrested and remanded in custody.
At the hearing, R. Diouf categorically denied the allegations. For her part, the victim maintained her accusations, explaining that her uncle had gagged her in her room while she slept in order to rape her.
The public prosecutor, however, pointed out several inconsistencies, emphasizing that the accusations against the uncle only surfaced after the incident with the classmate. Believing that the case rested solely on the girl's statements in the face of the defendant's consistent denials, he requested an acquittal.
The defense, represented by lawyers Sy and Sène, argued that the crime was a settling of scores stemming from a family dispute. Based on these arguments, the court acquitted the defendant due to reasonable doubt, ending his four-year prison sentence.
