Action sociale : La Direction générale des Douanes apporte son soutien au Daara de Porokhane
The Senegalese Customs' Ramadan 2026 caravan reached a significant milestone this Thursday, February 26, 2026, in Porokhane. As part of the "Customs-Community" initiative, a delegation from the General Directorate of Customs (DGD) visited the religious center to tour the Daara (Koranic school) of Mame Diarra Bousso and meet with religious leader Serigne Moustapha Bassirou Mbacké. This initiative had a dual purpose: to raise awareness among local stakeholders about the missions of the customs administration and to provide concrete support to the students of the Koranic school.

The delegation, led by the Regional Director of Customs for the Centre region, Colonel Ibrahima Thiam, was notably accompanied by Lieutenant-Colonel Mouhamed Niang, head of the Communication Division, and Lieutenant-Colonel Pierre Sylva, head of the Kaolack subdivision.

Welcomed by the sub-prefect of Paoscoto, the members of the DGD were able to present the approach of proximity desired by the Director General Babacar Mbaye, focused on the protection of citizens against illicit trafficking and the economic development of the country.

The religious leader, Serigne Moustapha Bassirou Mbacké, warmly welcomed this initiative, emphasizing the crucial importance of customs action for peace and national security. In his address, the marabout elaborated on the positive impact of customs on infrastructure financing and social protection.

He affirmed that he had always stood as a guardian against fraud and prohibited goods, believing that the Customs service's mission aligns with the principles of Islam, which consist of combating evil and promoting lawful production. The leader concluded by reminding everyone that it is the duty of every citizen to support the Customs administration for the well-being of the nation.

The visit concluded at the Daara Mame Diarra Bousso with a meeting with the teaching staff and students. This significant moment was marked by an awareness session for the young female boarders on the role of Customs in society, followed by the distribution of donations of various food items intended to improve the students' support during this period of Ramadan.
