Discours à la Nation : Le président de la Fédération des associations religieuses et des communautés en Casamance en phase avec Diomaye Faye
The president of the Federation of Religious Associations and Communities in Casamance followed the President's address to the nation on December 31, 2020, with particular attention. Chérif Cheikh Boun Chamsidine Aïdara praised "a unifying speech, one of peace and national security. We saw a President of the Republic in the role of father of the nation, guardian of the institutions. All of this shows that the President expressed a desire to unite and bring together the Senegalese people. And we welcomed his return to the topic of institutional reform following the national consultations on justice and the political system."
Having participated in these meetings, he emphasized that President Diomaye had demonstrated a willingness to assume his responsibilities. "If you agree on issues, I will approve them directly. But if you disagree on points, I will take responsibility," Chérif Cheikh Boun Chamsidine Aïdara stated, quoting the Head of State.
The president of the Federation of religious associations and communities in Casamance also welcomed the recognition by the head of state to the religious and customary authorities who are guardians of social balance, the appeasement of consciences and the values that underpin our living together.
And this is to recall that in April 2024, the president announced the creation of the general directorate, which became on May 6, 2025 the General Delegation in charge of religious affairs and the clear intention of the president of the Republic to make this delegation a full ministry.
In this vein, he advocated for national recognition of religious dignitaries for services rendered to the nation.
Returning to the Diomaye Plan for Casamance, the religious leader recalled a quote from Pope John Paul II who said: "The other name for peace is development."
On the economic front, Chérif Cheikh Boun Chamsidine Aïdara welcomed the drop in prices of basic necessities, including fuel, gas and electricity.
