Interné à l’hôpital psychiatrique : Azoura entame une grève de la faim et annonce son départ de Pastef
“I don’t belong here!” With these words, Assane Fall, also known as “Azoura,” denounced his “unjustified” confinement at the Thiaroye psychiatric center. The Pastef activist, who contacted Seneweb via a brother’s phone, stated that he had begun a hunger strike to protest the “inhumane” conditions of his confinement.
"They inject me with powerful antipsychotics that make me sleep for days," Azoura denounces over the phone.
He claims he would prefer to be transferred to Rebeuss prison rather than released, because, he declares, "I am not crazy and I never have been. It is Pastef who are looking for mitigating circumstances so that I don't go back to prison. I prefer to be in detention rather than be interned here. My honor forbids me to stay here."
The former standard-bearer of the patriots then announced his departure from Pastef. "Between Azoura and Pastef, it's over. Pastef betrayed me," he said, somewhat agitated.
Addressing the charge of driving without a license, Azoura maintains that he holds a "military (driver's) license." He adds that at the time of the incident, he was in the process of converting his military driver's license into a civilian one.
As a reminder, his friend and co-defendant, Serigne Saliou Fall, appeared last Friday before the Dakar Magistrates' Court on charges of abandoning a vehicle to a third party without a driver's license and complicity in involuntary assault and battery. The court acquitted him outright, finding that Azoura had taken the vehicle's keys without authorization.
