Affaire de mœurs et santé publique : Babacar Ba brise le silence de la société civile
As the sex scandal involving several prominent figures makes headlines, Babacar Ba, president of the Forum of the Justiciable, is the first civil society actor to speak out. In a firm statement, he directly challenges the authorities and the justice system on the issues of public health and respect for the law.
For the president of the Forum of the Justiciable, the time for observation is over. "In this case of deviant behavior that has made headlines, it is incumbent upon the authorities, at the highest level of the State, to relentlessly combat unnatural acts, the deliberate transmission of HIV/AIDS, and any intentional endangerment of the lives of others," he insisted. He emphasized that these behaviors are not merely a private matter, since they "constitute a serious threat to public health."
Given the scale of the accusations and the profiles of those implicated, Babacar Ba insists on the need for exemplary judicial proceedings, free from any outside influence. "Faced with a case of extreme gravity, the Senegalese justice system must fully exercise its responsibilities with independence and impartiality, free from any pressure, in accordance with the principles of the rule of law," he concludes.
