Agression à la machette à Mboro : Un agriculteur grièvement blessé, deux bergers arrêtés
An argument between a farmer and two herdsmen nearly turned tragic in Mboro after the farmer demanded that the herders remove their herd of cattle that had invaded his field. But the order escalated when the two young herdsmen refused to comply, brandishing their machetes. The farmer's nephew, frightened by the threat, ran away, leaving his uncle alone to face the attackers.
They struck him three times with a machete on the arm and elbow before fleeing. Seriously injured, he was taken to hospital. He was released with a medical certificate stating that he was temporarily unable to work for 30 days.
Before the police, the farmer contested the version of the two shepherd brothers who, during their hearing, declared that it was he who had opened hostilities by throwing a stone at them, thus forcing them to defend themselves.
The two shepherds were charged with assault and battery and brought before the Thiès prosecutor's office. The elder shepherd was remanded in custody at the Thiès House of Arrest and Correction (MAC), while his younger brother, a minor, was taken to the juvenile prison.
