AIBD.SA : Gestion opaque et cartes de santé bloquées, le STDS menace de paralyser le secteur
The social climate is deteriorating within AIBD.SA. Meeting in extraordinary session, the Bureau of the Union of Democratic Workers of Senegal (STDS) is sounding the alarm and denouncing a situation it describes as "critical".
"Enough is enough!" the union insists in a statement, referring to several months of tension marked by repeated delays in the payment of employees' acquired rights and entitlements, deteriorating working conditions and a total lack of social dialogue with senior management.
The breaking point seems to have been reached with the blocking, for almost two weeks, of the health insurance cards of AIBD.SA workers and their families in all airports in Senegal.
“Today, our colleagues and their children are being turned away from healthcare facilities because, for six (6) months, AIBD.SA has not honored its financial commitments to the new insurer Saar, under the guise of ASCOMA, which was unilaterally imposed without the agreement of the social partners. What we are experiencing is serious. What we are demanding is legitimate. We strongly denounce the irresponsibility of the general management,” the statement explains.
The STDS asks, "How can we understand that a company so strategic for the national economy can leave its workers without medical coverage, while multiplying agreements and commitments with structures whose real scope and financial implications are unknown to the workers or their representatives? The STDS denounces opaque management, risky steering and a worrying disregard for the basic rules of social dialogue."
Thus, the union members refuse to allow workers to be used as a variable for adjustment. "We refuse to let families pay the price for failing governance. We refuse silence, opacity, and improvisation," the STDS fumes.
The union demands: “The immediate and full payment of arrears owed to the insurer in order to restore without delay the medical coverage of employees and their families; total transparency on all agreements signed by AIBD.SA and their financial implications; the urgent opening of a formal framework for social dialogue with a clear timetable and written commitments; the finalization of the harmonization process initiated with the social partners.”
The STDS reserves the right to initiate any legal and proportionate union action if concrete measures are not taken as soon as possible.
“Workers of AIBD.SA , the time for whispering in the corridors is over. The time for unity, vigilance, and responsible mobilization is now. We call on the authorities to fully grasp the gravity of the situation before irreparable social damage occurs. The STDS remains and will remain standing alongside the workers for dignity, justice, and respect,” the union members warned.
