Célébration du 4 Avril à Thiès : L’armée en reconnaissance du boulevard qui abritera le défilé
Thiès has been chosen by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to host the celebration of Independence Day scheduled for April 4, 2026.
As a prelude to preparations for the civil and military parade, the army began reconnaissance activities on Wednesday on Avenue Caen, the boulevard that will host the festivities.
This exercise, coordinated by the commander of military zone no. 7, Colonel El Hadj Oumar Faye, aims to allow the armed forces to become more familiar with the site, particularly with regard to the passage and maneuvering of heavy vehicles that will take part in the parade.
In this context, the avenue is temporarily closed to traffic between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., in order to allow the reconnaissance operations to proceed smoothly and safely.
