A meeting dedicated to preparations for the Independence Day celebrations on April 4, 2026, was held this Wednesday at the Mbacké prefecture, chaired by Prefect Khadim Hann. The meeting, which included all members of the organizing committee, took place in the presence of the sub-prefect of Ndam, Abdoulaye Karma.

Following the meeting, the prefect expressed reassurance regarding the progress of the preparations. "I have just finished a meeting dedicated to the preparations for April 4, 2026, in the Mbacké department. It was an expanded meeting to discuss organizational aspects. I can say that we are reassured by the progress of the preparations," he told the press.

Addressing logistical aspects, he specified that significant progress had been made, particularly regarding the official grandstand. "We already have a commitment from a local company to provide a high-quality grandstand. In fact, discussions with this company are at a very advanced stage," he indicated, thus expressing his optimism about the event's success.

The prefect also mentioned the particular context this year, marked by the coincidence of Independence Day and the Magal of Mame Mor Diarra. "It's an event of exceptional magnitude that will be celebrated at the same time as April 4th. But we are reassured because the festivities will have no impact on the smooth running of the Magal," he affirmed, while specifying that adjustments had been necessary.

To that end, "the official parade ceremony will take place on the morning of April 4th. But the cocktail dinner will be replaced by a lunch at the prefecture," explained Khadim Hann.

The program of activities remains unchanged, with some well-defined highlights: "The official launch of activities will take place on April 1st with a hike, followed by a blood drive on April 2nd. On April 3rd, there will be a dress rehearsal and a torchlight procession in the evening."

In conclusion, the prefect of Mbacké reiterated his confidence in the success of the event. "Overall, we are very reassured about the progress of the preparations for April 4th."
