Axe Taïba–Katakel : les pluies diluviennes anéantissent les travaux fraîchement réalisés
The long-awaited rehabilitation of the Taïba–Katakel road lasted only a few hours. The work, which began in the morning, was completely destroyed by heavy rains that fell in the afternoon, plunging the population into anger and dismay.
For years, residents had been calling for work on this section, which had become impassable during the rainy season. The announcement of the start of work had raised hopes and satisfaction. But the joy was short-lived. Torrential rains were enough to wash away the structure, revealing the fragility and precariousness of the work.
Faced with this scenario, repeated every winter, the population, very angry, demands sustainable solutions rather than interventions deemed superficial. "We are fed up with makeshift repairs that don't even survive a rain shower. The State must take responsibility," fumed one resident we met on site.
Beyond the Taïba–Katakel axis, the entire issue of the quality and sustainability of road infrastructure during the winter period is being called into question. The population is directly calling on the authorities to seriously address this grievance, which has become vital for mobility, the local economy, and user safety.
