Sortie de Bara Ndiaye : La galaxie « Diomaye Président » fait bloc et exige des sanctions exemplaires
This has sparked a veritable outcry within the presidential camp. Less than 24 hours after the tumultuous session of March 11, 2026, in the National Assembly, several leading movements within the "Diomaye President" coalition have taken to the airwaves. Through a series of inflammatory statements, they are calling on the Speaker of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, to denounce the "scandalous" remarks made by MP Bara Ndiaye against the Head of State.
Is the Republic losing its sacredness? For the AWALE Party, the Movement for Citizen Revolution (MRC), the Mimi2024 movement and the Patriotic Convergence – The Intègres, the answer is clear: the limit of what is acceptable has been crossed.
"Immunity is not a license to insult."
The tone was set by Jules Faye, president of the MPDES, who railed against the "degradation" of public debate. For him, attacking the country's highest institution is an attempt to dismantle national unity. "Parliamentary immunity is a protection for freedom of speech, not a license for public insult," he insisted, invoking the Cheikh Abdou Bara Dolly precedent to demand a justice system without double standards.
The Hemicycle: a sanctuary, not an arena for invective
In a coordinated effort, the AWALE Party (represented by Samba Gueye), the MRC of Djidiack Faye, and the Mimi2024 movement led by Moustapha Diémé all addressed a formal appeal to the Speaker of the National Assembly. Their grievance is identical: the remarks made by Bara Ndiaye on March 11 are "particularly serious and unacceptable."
Relying on Article 88 of the National Assembly's Rules of Procedure, these organizations are demanding an "exemplary sanction." According to them, the role of a member of parliament imposes an obligation of dignity and restraint, which was violated during this memorable session.
Djoloff and Senegal are watching El Malick Ndiaye
The most personal appeal came from Aly Ka, president of the Patriotic Convergence – The Upright Ones. Addressing himself directly to the President of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, he invoked the political legacy of Djoloff and illustrious figures such as Daouda Sow and Djibo Leyti Ka.
“Your responsibility is being called into question today. It is up to you to write the lines of your history with the stature that your office demands,” he writes, recalling that the whole of Senegal is watching the institution’s reaction to what he calls a “desecration.”
Towards a referral to the Public Prosecutor?
Beyond parliamentary sanctions, calls for judicial firmness are resonating. The Minister of Justice and the Public Prosecutor are being urged by some members of the coalition to take up the case themselves. For these supporters of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, respect for institutions is a "non-negotiable obligation" for the stability of the rule of law.
The ball is now in the court of the National Assembly Bureau. The response to these cross-examinations will undoubtedly determine the climate of future debates within the 14th legislature.
