The Bargny Police Station arrested a security guard on the night of December 31, 2025 to January 1, 2026, suspected of raping a 10-year-old girl in an unfinished building in Sendou.

The arrest of the suspect followed the courageous intervention of a driver, assisted by members of the Mobile Intervention Group (GMI) on duty at the port of Bargny-Sendou.

According to the witness's statements, while on his way to an invitation for the New Year's Eve celebrations on December 31, 2025, around 11 p.m., he saw the accused leading a 10-year-old girl into an unfinished building located in Sendou.

A few minutes later, the driver intercepted the child as she left the building. When questioned about her presence in the dark at such a late hour, the little girl stated that she had been forced into the building by the suspect, who had allegedly undressed her before committing the act of penetration.

During the exchange, the witness saw the suspect leave the building and flee. After a chase, he managed to apprehend him. He then notified the victim's parents and alerted the GMI (Mobile Intervention Group) to take the individual to the police station.

Interviewed in the presence of her mother, the victim confirmed the events, stating that she had screamed in pain, causing her attacker to flee. When questioned, the accused denied the allegations.

The security guard in question was taken into custody for questioning. A request was immediately sent to the Youssou Mbargane Diop Hospital in Rufisque for a medical examination.

The results of the gynecological examination, obtained the same day, indicate a suspicion of sexual abuse of the 10-year-old minor.

Consequently, the suspect's detention has been upheld. He is being prosecuted for rape of a minor and pedophilia. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect is expected to be brought before the prosecutor's office soon.
