Barricades, pneus brûlés, grenades lacrymogènes : colère noire à Rufisque après le verdict de Rabat
The city of Rufisque was the scene of violent clashes following the announcement of the sentencing of 18 Senegalese football supporters in Morocco. Deemed "severe and unjust," this court decision sparked an immediate wave of anger in the old city.
Groups of young people took to the main roads, erecting barricades and burning tires. This wave of unrest paralyzed traffic and forced businesses to close their doors immediately. To regain control, law enforcement used tear gas, leading to tense chases through the alleyways, particularly in the Keury Kao neighborhood.
According to a witness contacted by the newspaper Source A, the protesters believe that these supporters "were simply supporting their team" and should not be "treated like criminals." This emotion is all the more intense in Rufisque because the municipality is directly affected: of the 18 convicts detained in Rabat, six are from the city, including four members of ASC Lebou Gui, the newspaper reports.
Although no official report on possible injuries or new arrests has been released, the tension remains high in the town, according to the same source.
