Elements of the Dakar Regional Narcotics Brigade under the OCRTIS made a major seizure on Friday, February 20, 2026 at the Beaux-Maraîchers bus station in Pikine, dismantling an international drug trafficking network according to Seneweb sources.

It all started with the exploitation of operational intelligence reporting the imminent delivery of a suspicious package from Ziguinchor, transported via a minibus commonly known as "Cheikhou Chérifu".

According to the information, the package was to be delivered by a Guinean driver to his Senegalese accomplice for delivery to Beaux-Maraîchers.

A surveillance operation was immediately set up. Around 8:20 p.m., the vehicle matching the description was spotted unloading packages at the bus station. When questioned, the driver, Mr. Diop, 50, admitted to receiving a package containing bottles of "Compal" brand beverage.

Shortly after, the recipient came forward to receive the package. Upon arrival, IAN, a 32-year-old student of Bissau-Guinean nationality, was quickly subdued and his two mobile phones were confiscated.

Checking the package revealed a case of 12 bottles, three of which contained hashish.

When questioned, IAN admitted to being the recipient of the package, which he said was sent by a friend named Yaya, without providing any further details.

Taken to his home in Mamelles, Mbackiyou Faye estate, a search of the premises led to the discovery of bank documents, civil status documents and a computer.

In total, 25 slabs of hashish were seized, including six 100-gram slabs and nineteen 50-gram slabs. The two suspects were taken into custody on charges of conspiracy, international drug trafficking, complicity in trafficking, and money laundering. The drugs and seized items were placed under seal.
