Castors : le commerçant vend de la drogue aux policiers sans le…
The operation, carried out on February 4 by the Dakar Regional Anti-Narcotics Brigade (BRS), led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of an impressive stock of psychotropic substances.
According to L'Observateur, the investigation was launched following a tip-off identifying a shopkeeper named C. Diop (50 years old) as an active dealer of prohibited products. Posing as buyers, the police placed an order for a box of Rivotril. The suspect was arrested in the act of making the transaction in his shop.
A veritable clandestine pharmacy
The search of his shop revealed a massive stock of drugs whose sale is strictly regulated: 47 boxes of Rivotril (470 tablets); 43 boxes of Lexomil (1,075 tablets); 11 boxes of Valium (330 tablets); as well as stocks of Alpraz, Bromazepam and Temesta.
The arrest of the supplier
After his arrest, the shopkeeper cooperated with investigators to trap his supplier. A new order was placed with an individual identified as "Seck Pharmacie." The suspect, PM Seck (55 years old), who presented himself as a pharmacy salesman, was arrested near the Castors football field while delivering the merchandise.
The pair were taken into custody. Diop and Seck are being prosecuted for criminal conspiracy, as well as for possession and trafficking of psychotropic substances, according to the newspaper of the Future Media Group.
