Bignona : séquestrée pendant une semaine, une déficiente mentale transformée en objet sexuel
In Bignona, MF Diatta, a 24-year-old woman with a mental disability, was held captive for seven days and sexually exploited in a guesthouse. According to L'Observateur, which reported the story in its Saturday, November 8th edition, her disappearance had caused great concern among her family, who launched numerous searches and alerts. The victim was finally found thanks to a relative who spotted her near the guesthouse, leading to the arrest of the alleged perpetrator, a man in his thirties.
As reported by the Groupe Futurs Médias newspaper, the suspect admitted to "having had multiple sexual encounters with her at the inn." However, he was quick to add that he "was unaware of his victim's mental state." "This statement has sparked outrage, given the obvious nature of her disability, according to the initial findings of the investigation," reports L'Observateur.
The judicial authorities subsequently ordered further examinations, including a gynecological examination which confirmed the assaults, as well as a psychiatric evaluation to formalize the victim's status as a vulnerable person. The suspect is in police custody and could be prosecuted for sexual exploitation of a vulnerable person, with aggravating circumstances related to the victim's mental disability, the same source added.
