Birkilane : Cheikh Massamba Bar porte le cri des populations pour le désenclavement de Touba Mbella et Mboss
The heartfelt plea launched by Cheikh Massamba Bar resonates today in several villages of the Birkilane department. In an open letter addressed to the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Infrastructure, the coordinator of the PUDC as well as the departmental authorities, the professor and head of PASTEF in the commune of Touba Mbella gave voice to the populations who have been facing isolation for years.
In his message, the teacher describes the difficult daily lives of the inhabitants living along the Birkilane - Lougal - Keur Sassy - Tivaouane Lewé - Touba Mbella - Darra Mboss and Mboss axis. For him, this road represents much more than a simple thoroughfare. "This road is not just a line on a map; it is the umbilical cord that connects dozens of villages and hamlets living to the rhythm of agricultural, commercial, and social activities," he writes.
Sheikh Massamba Bar also recalled the sacrifices made by many activists and citizens who believed in political change. "We spared no effort. Whether through our financial contributions, our personal sacrifices, or our constant presence on the front lines during the darkest moments of our march to power, we held firm so that hope would change sides," he emphasized.
But beyond the words, it is above all the daily suffering of rural populations that is highlighted. During the rainy season, some localities become difficult to access. Medical evacuations sometimes turn into a major headache, especially for pregnant women and the sick. Farmers, for their part, struggle to transport their harvests to markets due to the lack of passable roads.
Sheikh Massamba Bar also emphasizes the social consequences of this isolation. According to him, the lack of infrastructure hinders opportunities for young people and makes it difficult for students to travel to schools safely.
For the political leader, opening up this rural area is a social and economic imperative. He believes that Senegal's development cannot be effective if certain localities remain isolated.
"The sovereign, just and prosperous Senegal that we envision cannot be built by leaving behind these thousands of citizens who constitute the beating heart of our rural world," he affirms.
Through this appeal, Sheikh Massamba Bar urges the authorities to make the construction of this road a state priority. For the affected communities, this infrastructure could represent a real breath of fresh air and pave the way for better living conditions in this part of the Birkilane department.
