Boulangeries clandestines : la brigade régionale d’hygiène de Dakar serre la vis
The head of the regional hygiene brigade of Dakar, Captain Idrissa Ndiaye, carried out an inspection operation on Friday, May 15, 2026, in traditional bakeries in the capital, which were ordered to cease their activities pending administrative recognition.

During this raid, two pilot bakeries were visited by agents from the hygiene brigade.
According to Captain Idrissa Ndiaye, the first bakery, located on the Hydrocarbons Road, scrupulously followed the authorities' instructions. On site, he observed that the oven had been demolished and no trace of bread was found in the crates placed at the entrance of the establishment.
However, he discovered that the second bakery, located in the social housing complex near the railway station, had adopted a new strategy to circumvent the measures. According to information gathered by the health department, the owners had resumed operations and were baking bread from 6 p.m. onwards.

This situation led Captain Idrissa Ndiaye to suspend the establishment and to seize flours that were already molded and ready to be baked.
With Tabaski approaching, a period marked by high food consumption, the head of the hygiene brigade in Dakar has assured that control operations will be intensified to guarantee compliance with health standards and to protect the health of the people of Dakar.
