This weekend will probably be a long one for wrestler Ama Baldé, arrested the day before Tabaski by the Keur Massar research brigade.

According to Seneweb sources, his appearance before the investigating judge of the 1st chamber at the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court, which was scheduled for this Friday, has been postponed to next Monday.

Even though his custody measure expires today, Amadou Baldé will spend the weekend in the premises of the Keur Massar gendarmerie company.

He is accused of intentional assault and battery, insulting an officer in the performance of his duties, and rebellion.

As a reminder, the day after his triumphant welcome in Pikine upon his return from France, where he had sought refuge, Ama Baldé was apprehended by the Keur Massar BR (Brigade de Recherches - Research Brigade). The wrestler was arrested under a judicial warrant issued by the investigating judge of the 1st chamber of the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court.

The events date back to May 2025, when Julo, nephew of wrestler Amadou Baldé, known as "Ama," was implicated in an assault case. According to the victim's complaint, his motorcycle and chain were stolen.

It was in this context that police officers from the Pikine district police station went to the Baldé family home to serve a summons to suspect Julo, who had been caught smoking marijuana in the living room. Ama Baldé and his older brother, Pathé Baldé, resisted their nephew's arrest. The wrestler even came to blows with a police warrant officer.

Taking advantage of the confusion, Julo had fled. A search of his room yielded fourteen packets of marijuana and a pair of scissors. Before reinforcements arrived, the two brothers had also left the family home.

The warrant officer, who led the police operation, escaped with a minor hand injury. A medical certificate attested to a seven-day period of temporary incapacity for work.

Despite the travel ban issued against him, Ama Baldé had managed to leave Senegal and seek refuge in France.

It was yesterday, Tuesday, that the wrestler, accompanied by a famous lawyer, returned to the country, welcomed as a hero by a crowd of devoted fans.

His older brother, Pathé Baldé, had been arrested by police in front of the National Arena. Prosecutor Saliou Dicko then requested the opening of a judicial investigation.
