Braquage nocturne entre Bambadji et Diakha Médina : Des coupeurs de route sévissent sur l’axe rural
An armed robbery was reported on the evening of Thursday, February 5, 2026, on the road linking the village of Bambadji to Diakha Médina, in the commune of Bembou, approximately 36 km east of Saraya. The attack, which occurred between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., caused panic among users of this rural road, which is usually unsafe after nightfall.
According to information gathered from two victims, six hooded individuals, armed with two rifles and machetes, set up a carefully planned ambush. The assailants first blocked the path with a tree trunk before lying in wait to surprise passersby.
Trapped, the travelers were overpowered and then tied up with ropes. The perpetrators acted quickly, but without inflicting any physical injuries on the victims. After committing the crime, they disappeared into the bush.
Alerted, members of the local gendarmerie brigade immediately deployed to the scene. A search organized in the surrounding area led to the discovery of five abandoned motorcycles.
The loot taken by the assailants included two Samsung phones (A55 and A54) and 150,000 CFA francs. Other people present at the time of the incident managed to escape by scattering into the surrounding area.
An investigation has been opened by the gendarmerie to identify and find the perpetrators of this robbery which raises concerns about the safety of rural roads in this gold-mining area of the Kédougou region.
