Caricature du président Diomaye : Un journaliste de FeelingDakar à la SR malgré les excuses de la rédaction
Journalist Daouda Ndiaye, also known as "Daouda Waly," appeared in court Tuesday evening after being summoned by the Colobane Research Section. He is suspected of having insulted the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, through a photo and text published on the FeelingDakar Facebook page. The public prosecutor has taken up the case and ordered the Colobane Research Section to open an investigation.
Faced with the outcry, the FeelingDakar group published a statement on March 8 to offer its public apologies.
"The management of FeelingDakar TV informs the public that a caricature image representing His Excellency Mr. President of the Republic of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, was published in error on our Facebook page.
This publication, which could be perceived as an offense to the Head of State and the institutions of the Republic, in no way reflects the editorial line or the values of FeelingDakar TV.
As soon as the situation was brought to our attention, the image in question was immediately removed.
The management of FeelingDakar TV offers its sincere apologies to His Excellency the President of the Republic, to the authorities and to the Senegalese people.
FeelingDakar TV reaffirms its commitment to respecting the institutions of the Republic of Senegal and to the responsible handling of information.
Attorney Aboubacry Ba has pledged to defend the journalist in these legal proceedings. Furthermore, the Convention of Young Reporters of Senegal, under the presidency of Mamadou Diagne, is providing assistance to the FeelingDakar journalist, who is currently being questioned by investigators.
