The 5th edition of the Casamance International Cycling Tour will take place from December 1st to 7th, 2025. This is an opportunity to promote the Casamance region as a destination. Moreover, the theme of this tour lends itself perfectly to this: "Peace and social cohesion, drivers of development for the revival of socio-economic activities in Casamance."

However, just weeks before the first pedal strokes that will take the cyclists on a 400km journey, the organizing committee is still waiting for support from the country's authorities.

Ibrahima Diassy, tour coordinator and 2nd vice-president of the Senegalese Cycling Federation, expressed his indignation at the silence of certain ministries. "Since June, we have sent letters to the authorities, to the President of the Republic, to the Prime Minister. No response. The Prime Minister, who did reply, encouraged us and instructed certain ministries to support us. But so far, these ministries have not contacted us," he lamented.

The Ministry of Sports and Youth is currently at a loss. "Last year, it was the same situation. We had no contact with the minister. We hope that this year, she will react. The president of the federation sent a letter to the ministry," continued the coordinator of the cycling tour.

Around fifty runners are expected, including some from abroad, but there are concerns about their logistics, Mr. Diassy worries. "We've received calls from Poles, Dutch, and Spaniards that we can't confirm. Just now, we confirmed the French, Belgians, and Swiss. Spain contacted us yesterday. We can't confirm anything yet because we need to make sure we have hotels to accommodate and feed them. They pay for their tickets, and we provide accommodation and meals. There are also runners from African countries like Congo, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Mali."

The security aspect will be entrusted to the gendarmerie, the police and the army.
